Our angelica soap is named after the goddess Eir, goddess of the healing arts.
This is no coincidence, because the medicinal qualities of angelica are amazing to say the least. It is said angelica has the following properties: appetizing, beneficial to stomach acid, expectorant, soothing cramps, warming, good for nerves, diuretic, antipyretic, blood-cleansing, disinfectant, antibacterial, and anti-fungal. Even anorexia and roundworms!
Olive, coconut, and almond oils, shea butter, cocoa butter, angelica archaengelica (garden angelica) from Vesterålen, broadleaf plantain, essential oils from scots pine and rosemary, green color pigment, and rosemary extract.
Garden angelica is a bittersweet but also aromatic herb. The plant is tasty, nutritious, and completely edible, so it is for good reason angelica is a beloved herb for cooking. After a long winter of low nutrition-food, adding freshly grown angelica to soups, salads, liquor, and everything in between, was a welcome change for our ancestors. Garden angelica is the longest-used culinary herb for the northern parts of our country.
IMPORTANT! When harvesting angelica, make very sure you are picking the correct species. There are many other species in the angelica’s family, some of which are very poisonous. Angelica sylvestris is the one most commonly mistaken for angelica archangelica.
